![]() Telegram has allowed users to remove messages for years, and last year the Facebook-owned Whatsapp added the ability to unsend texts within an hour of being sent. Just like on mobile, the message will be replaced with one that says You unsent a message. Messenger isn't the first chat app to get an "unsend" feature. Open the conversation with the offending message, then hover your cursor over it and select the three dots to the left of the text. ![]() Facebook copped to the practice of wiping old messages and promised that it would stop doing so until everyone had the ability to delete past conversations. Nearly a year ago, Facebook promised to implement this feature for all users after it was discovered that the social networking giant was quietly removing old messages sent by CEO Mark Zuckerberg and other higher-ups within the company. Doing so will leave the content available for everyone else in the chat. To delete an entire conversation, open the Facebook Messenger app on your phone and hit the ‘Chats’ tab at the bottom. You can also choose to simply remove a message for yourself. Messenger will replace the removed chat bubble with text notifying the group that a message has been removed. The main caveat with using this method is that, to restore your backup, you will have to reset your phone to the factory settings. A menu should appear with an option that reads "Remove for Everyone." If you select that option, the message will disappear from the chat. How do I get a deleted conversation back Restore Deleted Text Messages With a Backup If you have enabled Google Drive backups on your Android phone, you can restore your backup to recover the deleted text messages. In the conversation where you want to delete a message, tap and hold the message for a second or two. To use the feature, tap on the message you want to remove.
